A lithographic print. 12 x 8.5 inches approximately.
I painted 'Up-a-long' one autumn standing on the steep, cobbled street in Clovelly with my easel strapped to the railings. The busy gaggle of tourists had gone and the street was calm with only the sound of seagulls cries and the background murmur of the sea. There are no wheeled vehicles allowed on the cobbles so everything has to be carried or brought down the cobbles by sledge so each morning milk and coal are delivered this way.
My son James is leaning on the railings, Jim is delivering coal, Peter and a girl, who's name I can no longer recall, are playing with the cat.
