Clovelly is a delightful village with pretty cottages tumbling down the cobbled street to the sea. There are side alleys and squares that give yet another glimpse or breathtaking view of Bideford Bay. I always enjoyed painting here as the villagers and visitors had time to chat. Shamshackle steps lead down the backs of cottages to the lifeboat house and the shingled beach. I perched my easel here for a week while I painted this scene, which rather prevented people using the steps!
